Skills Deepening Retreat for The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® Therapists that have attended Pregnancy Training

In this 4.5-day workshop practitioners who have already attended Conception, Pregnancy and Postpartum training we will be deepening and expanding their skills in Arvigo®Therapy for the pregnancy and postpartum period and enriching wisdom from our multicultural lineage of Wise Women. 

Practitioners will have the opportunity to refine their Professional Care and pregnancy techniques and be introduced to advanced bodywork techniques to support pelvic balance & health, including reproductive and postpartum recovery. We will also explore advanced clinical issues that many clients are experiencing as well as the effects of trauma in the body and how to support those who are experiencing the short and long term effects. 

Additionally, practitioners will be given the opportunity to discuss their best client outcome and their most challenging.

• Retreat style with meditations and self healing processes with free time to enjoy the lake and retreat center

*You are responsible for making travel arrangements to and from the venue center.  

Feel free to network with other students (we will be sending group emails) regarding the trip to/from the center.  On occasion, due to unforeseen circumstances the Arvigo® Institute cancels a class. We make every effort to provide participants with ample notice especially when it involves travel (flights, hotels rental cars, etc.). It is highly recommended you purchase travel insurance to avoid additional fees.  

Cancellation: In the instance the Institute or Teacher cancels the class a full refund or transfer to a future class is provided.  The Institute and/or the Teacher reserve the right to cancel any class up to 14 days prior to the class start date.

Student Cancellation: If a student cancels less than 7 prior to the first day of instruction, either 50% of tuition will be refunded or the full amount of tuition may be transferred to another Arvigo® training. 

Please note: Lodging fees are only refundable up to 45 days prior to class start date. 

 

The Arvigo® Institute and Teachers are not responsible for costs incurred that were not part of the class fees such as travel, and shuttle expenses. 

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® - A Brief History

More than 40 years ago,  Dr. Rosita Arvigo relocated from Chicago to Belize to deepen her studies of medicinal plants in the dense rainforest she would call home.  On a chance visit to her small clinic, Maya shaman Don Elijio Panti visited her to learn about plants. This meeting resulted in a ten year apprenticeship with him until his passing in 1996 at the age of 103. Based on her years of living and studying in Mexico and Belize, Dr Arvigo was honored to meet and study with other traditional healers such as Miss Hortence Robinson, a well known herbal midwife who shared her knowledge of caring for women during pregnancy. The techniques she learned from these  traditional healers were given with permission to use and share as long as they were honored and remembered.  Her experiences can be enjoyed in reading  "Sastun, My Apprenticeship with a Mayan Healer."

Arvigo Therapy® is founded on the techniques learned from these traditional healers along with the integration of  anatomy, physiology and naprapathy (study of muscles, ligaments, connective tissues). From 2000 to 2020 the Arvigo Institute was based in New Hampshire collectively working with practitioners and teachers around the world to continue the legacy of Don Elijio. Together, they developed an integrative program of study accessible to all professionals as well as the lay person seeking to improve health and wellness for themselves and clients. 

Since its inception, The Arvigo® Institute has trained healthcare professionals and teachers worldwide. In 2020, The Arvigo Institute was transitioned to a new owner to carry it forward into the future; Samar Ocean Wolf Ciprian of New Zealand who comes from an indigenous background herself.  Due to the transfer of ownership,  Rosita Arvigo was then free to become independent and is now able to enjoy her elder years outside of the Arvigo® Institute.  

Today, the Arvigo® Institute offers traditional healing combined with 21st century science. Continuing in the Institute's commitment to supporting traditional healing, a percentage of each workshop goes directly to support numerous projects. Samar holds in high esteem the elders and healers that have gone before her, recognizing that tithing is an important part of carrying this work forward for future generations.

Tithing

A third of what the Arvigo® Institute receives for every class is tithing. This tithing will be split four ways, with one fourth going to the Itzamna Society, Don Elijio's descendants who protect the sacred forest at the Elijio Panti National Park in Belize, one fourth going to Dr. Rosita Arvigo in gratitude for her life's work, another fourth going to Maya healers/projects and a final fourth going to support indigenous healers/projects on the land the training is being held or to specific indigenous land care projects for online classes.
