Statement of mission, ownership and control of the Arvigo Institute
In the mid-1990s in the Cayo region of Belize, Dr. Rosita Arvigo founded a program of study to train interested healthcare professionals in the alternative health care treatments that she had developed from her experience working with Don Elijio Panti, a highly regarded Belizean traditional healer, and her own knowledge as a naprapath physician. Word spread over the years and in 2003 Dr. Arvigo established The Arvigo Institute, LLC to operate the training program in what are now known as The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. The Institute operated under the leadership of Diane MacDonald, RN, MSN, an advanced Arvigo® Practitioner, teacher, and licensed Nurse in New Hampshire with the advice and support of Rosita Arvigo and other advanced Arvigo® Practitioners. This continued to 2015 when Diane and her husband Stephen purchased the Institute from Dr. Arvigo who had a number of related professional interests and needed to move on from the responsibility of overseeing the ongoing operation of the Arvigo Institute. Rosita remains, however, an Arvigo® teacher and consultant to the Institute.

The Arvigo Institute is owned and operated by Diane and Stephen MacDonald. Diane is the managing director having earned a Master’s in Nursing in 1998, employed as a Family Nurse Practitioner until 2005. Since 2001, Diane has been actively involved with Dr. Arvigo, DN developing and managing the Arvigo® program of study. Stephen MacDonald holds a BS and MAT in secondary education and has taught English at the secondary level and worked as a technical writer and trainer in the private sector and holds a certificate in massage therapy. He assists in long term planning and coordinates teaching standards and compliance. Melinda Adams, holds an AD in childhood education from Keene State College. She serves as our office manager overseeing daily operations and event liaison with our contracted venue centers. Karen Conrow is originally from Texas with many years’ experience in corporations; she has a BS from SW Texas University.
There is no formal board, but the operation of the Institute continues with the advice and counsel of Rosita Arvigo and advanced Arvigo® Practitioners who have been with the program since before the inception of the Institute.
The Institute provides teacher training for qualified practitioners who meet the standards of education for a continuing education program.

Introductory level courses: Hands on Health the Maya Way and Self Care Level 1 are open to anyone without prerequisites. Self-Care Training, Level 1 is a prerequisite to advance to other classes to become an Arvigo® Practitioner.
Professional Care Training, Level 2: This 5 and ½ day workshop prepares qualified professional health care practitioners to apply Arvigo® Therapy in their work with clients. Advancing to this workshop requires that an applicant possess a license to touch clients to apply therapeutic treatment where such treatment is regulated by the state or province or country which has the legal authority to oversee the work of their profession. Examples of such regulated professions include massage therapists, nurses, naturopaths, physicians, acupuncturists, physical therapists, midwives, etc.
Where recognized professions are not regulated by local governmental authority, applicants must provide proof of having completed a training program recognized by their profession or a combination of education and experience that in the judgement of the Arvigo Institute would ensure an applicant has the background to successfully complete Professional Care Training Level 2 to become a competent Arvigo® Practitioner.
Additional Advanced workshops: After completion of Professional Care Training Level 2, the practitioner may attend additional workshops such as Advanced Clinical Applications and Supporting Pregnancy from Pre-Conception to Post-Partum. Enrollment in these workshops requires the practitioner to be actively engaged in providing Arvigo® Therapy to clients, have a current license and insurance, and selected case studies that demonstrate clinical application.
Teacher Training is an Advanced Workshop by application for those who are Certified Practitioners.
Posting of instructor, location, and schedule of subjects being offered at the beginning of each quarter, semester or term; We do not offer workshops by quarters, semesters, or terms.
• Certified Instructors for Hands on Health and Self Care Training Level 1 classes organize their courses independently of the Institute and post classes as they choose to schedule them.
• Advanced courses are organized solely by the Arvigo Institute, LLC in a variety of locations based on venue center requirements as mandated by CE organizations, instructor availability, and location. These are posted on our web site and offered regularly throughout the world without adherence to terms, semesters, or other restrictions.

Course descriptions are located on our web site. www.arvigotherapy.com. We do not have school locations; rather selected venue centers we contract with for Advanced workshops, or those the Hand on Health or Self Care Level 1 Instructor contracts with to provide the workshop.
Description of school’s grading system for necessary student outcomes: We adhere to our continuing education organization’s policies to provide a certificate of completion stating that a participant has completed the course.
Credit for completing a workshop is documented and maintained in Institute records by a completion certificate awarded to all students who attend each day of class as verified by a daily sign in sheet and by records maintained by the Arvigo Institute office.
The Institute does not offer programs that require attending multiple workshops in sequence, that is, enrolling in a class commits a student only to the completion of that class to receive the credit which accompanies that class. Partial credit for attending part of a class is not available.
Withdrawal policy: Instead of the standard school withdrawal policy, students are expected to attend the course dates to receive CE credit. Partial credit is not given for partial attendance. Students who withdraw from a class may contact the Institute Administrator to discuss the following options:
a.) Transfer to another class.
b.) Prorated refund for class fees. No refund will be given for students who withdraw after 50% of the course has taken place.
All withdrawals must be submitted to the Arvigo Institute office in writing and are recorded as received on the day they arrive at the Institute office. See Correspondence for email and USPS addresses.
Requirements for program, course, or both completion and graduation: As a continuing education provider we do not offer a course of study leading to graduation or qualification for an initial professional license. Students must attend and complete each day of the course to receive continuing education credits as granted by CE organizations with which we maintain affiliation. We do not provide partial CE credit.

Accommodations and Lodging: Due to the nature of our Advanced workshops, the Institute requires that participants enrolling in advanced classes must lodge on site. Over time the Institute has found that many participants underestimate the challenge of learning a comprehensive approach to wellness side by side with a rigorous bodywork protocol. As adult learners our students’ learning is accentuated by lodging on site without daily distractions, commuting along with the benefits of networking in community with other professionals in a supportive learning environment. Venues provide security and accessibility and many are located where other choices for lodging are limited or simply not available.
The Institute has an educational scholarship fund for those who complete the application prior to the class. Payment plans may be available. Prospective students should contact the office for further details.
Cancellations and Refunds: Tuition Only - Domestic (US)
Refunds are not provided on Non-Recoverable Fees: These fees include but are not limited to Administrative, Registration Fee and lodging and meals made on behalf of the student by the Institute and Instructor. These fees are non-transferable and non-refundable and are applied to the course for which a participant is registered. Tuition is refunded in full or transferable if a student cancels on or before the first day of class.

Institute/Teacher Cancellation: In the instance the Institute or Teacher cancels a class a full refund or, at the option of the student, a transfer to a future class is provided. The Institute and/or the Teacher reserves the right to cancel any class up to 14 days prior to the class start date.
Student Cancellation: If a student cancels on or before the first day of instruction a full refund of the tuition ($50) for Hands on Health and ($150) for Self-Care classes will be made or, at the student’s option, a full transfer to another class. All efforts will be made to return non-recoverable fees to the student. All cancellations must be submitted to the Arvigo Institute office in writing and are recorded as received on the day they arrive at the Institute office. The Arvigo Institute, LLC and Teachers are not responsible for costs incurred that were not paid directly to the Institute.

If we can fill your space in the class with a 30 day notice, class fees may be returned less the registration and applicable fees that are not recoverable by the school. Thirty (30) days or less prior to the class, no refunds are available.
The Arvigo Institute, LLC is a continuing education provider and, as such, does not offer nor accept credit transfers. Students are expected to attend each workshop session to receive CE as granted by CE organizations with whom we are affiliated. Students attending and completing one of our workshops receive a certificate of completion. Students who may be in or intend to be in a school program in the future may present the certificate to that institution. Some have accepted it and some have not. It’s strictly on a case by case basis and not under the authority of the Institute.
Resolution of Grievances
The Arvigo Institute is committed to customer satisfaction and quality professional education for healthcare provider’s continuing education and, in pursuit of such, desires that students are satisfied and are treated fairly. All complaints and responses to complaints must be made in writing to the Institute office (See Correspondence) and will be handled as described in the following process.
First Step: Complaints about a class should be brought to the attention of the teacher. Other complaints should be brought directly to the Arvigo Institute office (see Second Step). If a complaint is about a class, the teacher meets with the student to discuss the issue and work with the student to resolve the problem. The teacher documents the issue and submits a report to the Arvigo Institute office. If the issue is resolved, the report is filed with the class documentation. If the issue is not resolved to the student’s satisfaction, the student should contact the Arvigo Institute office in writing.
Second Step: The Arvigo Institute office will review the student complaint and any relevant documentation and will contact the student and/or teacher if additional information is needed. The Institute will make a best effort to resolve the complaint within 10 business days of receiving it. Final resolution will be in writing and made available to all concerning parties.
Third Step: If a student is not satisfied with the resolution after consulting with the Institute Office, the student should contact the New Hampshire Office of Career School Licensing at the following number: 603-271-6443.
