I received my doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Tempe, AZ, in addition to graduating with distinction with my Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. My background was originally in behavioral health, so it came naturally to add on a certification in psychiatric mental health nursing as a nurse practitioner, which I obtained from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. My undergraduate education consists of a bachelor of science in nursing degree from Loyola University Chicago as well as bachelor of arts degree from North Central College in Naperville, IL (Religious Studies and Psychology), an associate’s degree in chemistry and biology from College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL, and an associates in applied science in nursing from Mesa Community College, Mesa, AZ. I furthered my study of alternative medicine by obtain Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist certificates from Scottsdale Community College, Scottsdale, AZ. Prior to college I obtained certification and licensure in massage therapy from the Southern California School of Massage Therapy, Riverside, CA as well as a cosmetology and cosmetology instructors licenses (training was from Riverside City College, Riverside, CA & International Academy of Hair Design, Chandler, AZ). After graduation from naturopathic school I continued to study complementary medicine in the rainforests of Belize, Central America, having had the pleasure to work directly with Dr. Rosita Arvigo, a well-known herbalist who holds a doctorate degree in naprapathic medicine from National College of Naprapathic Medicine, Chicago, IL . Upon arrival back into the United States I took a detour from the medical field to fulfill my dream of designing, opening and managing spas for high end resorts including, but not limited to, The Sage Spa at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California and the Amethyst Spa at the Radisson Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. I returned back to the medical field in the fall of 2007 gaining experience at several Phoenix area hospitals including the Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, Chandler Regional Hospital, Arizona State Hospital, Banner Desert Hospital, Banner Health Center (Chandler), Banner Behavioral Health and Remuda Ranch Center for Eating Disorders. My hospital management experience includes managing Aurora Behavioral Health Hospital in Tempe, AZ and additionally Banner Behavioral Health in Scottsdale, AZ. I am currently full-time faculty in the nursing department at Mesa Community College (as well as adjunct at Scottsdale Community College), and oversee nurse practitioner students for Northern Arizona University. I have previously been on staff as a provider, and held privileges, at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ.
